“‘Hm!' said the Scarecrow, thoughtfully. 'If it is such hard work as you say, how did the women manage it so easily?'
I really do not know,' replied the man, with a deep sigh. 'Perhaps the women are made of cast-iron.” L. Frank Baum, The Marvellous Land of Oz
This is our fourth year of vegetable and fruit growing within our little plot. A modest 0.04 acres, it contains a ramshackle greenhouse, three large beds and an arched path for peas to grow over. It is divided by a line of raspberry canes, beyond which, there are rhubarb and gooseberry bushes flourishing. There is also a young blueberry bush which is most definitely not flourishing but getting stronger every year. I live in hope that one day we will be harvesting fat little berries from it.
