Did anyone ever envisage how reliant we would become on the internet?
In the space of two decades, we seem to have backed ourselves into a corner. It slowly crept in without too much invitation and all of a sudden, we rely on it to help run our modern lives.
Do you remember your first connection to the world wide web?
We had a big old pc that sat at a desk on the landing at the top of the stairs. We were allowed to take turns of maybe twenty minutes after school and only if no one else was using the landline phone. Back then, you couldn’t do both at the same time. Sometimes, my whole twenty minutes were spent trying to connect. The old dial up tone would beep and shrill away.
